Community
The Black Angus Restaurant has been a part of the local and tourist community
of Virginia Beach for more than 50 years.
Active participation in our community and involvement in civic organizations,
city boards, and commissions -- on a local, state, and national level
-- the owners, managers, and employees of the Black Angus view the operation
of the restaurant as a cornerstone of this community.
National Restaurant Association - Long-standing members
of the Association, Michael Savvides has served an 11-year term on the
National Board and maintains an Honorary Board Seat on with the Association.
Virginia Restaurant Association - Past president of
the VRA and active members for more than 30 years, Michael Savvides was
a principal of the merger of the VRA with the Virginia Hospitality and
Travel Association
Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association - a strong
voice for tourism, the VHTA is a combined association of all the restaurants,
hotels, travel and supplier industries. Currently, Christopher Savvides
is the Chairman and Michael Savvides maintains active boardmember status.
Virginia Beach Restaurant Association - A founding member,
Michael Savvides was instrumental in the growth of the association. Christopher
Savvides was a two-term president. They maintain a membership through
the Black Angus Restaurant.
Other boards/commissions in which the principals of the Black Angus are
involved include:
Virginia Beach Personnel Board, Virginia Beach
Wetlands Board, Virginia Beach Health Services Advisory
Board, Virginia Beach Rotary, Virginia Beach Jaycees.
Every year we reveiw organizations to support and select
one to put our full resources behind. This year we have selected the Salvation
Army. Pleaese join us in helping them fulfill their critical mision.
